Saw one of these on display, and they are so tiny! Would be really nice to use one of these, compared to my old green bosch that weighs about 1kg.

not been able to find any reviews anywhere though.

Is there something same/ cheaper / better out there?

This combo at £140 seems pretty good value.

BTW what's difference between impact driver and drill driver?

Both Bosch and Makita cover a much wider range of tools in the 10.8v format. I still have a couple of Bosch drill/drivers, but have sold the rest of it - anything with a blade, basically, sucked the life out of the battery faster than a vampire could drain a body.

Drill/drivers do exactly what they say (drill holes, drive screws); impact drivers deliver a strong, sudden and downward rotational force and are guaranteed to wake babies and scare toddlers (DAMHIKT) whilst loosening stuck bolts or screws with chewed heads.

I've decided that I prefer a quiet life, so whilst I still keep an Impact driver, I prefer a decent drill/driver wherever possible.

I did a little research, however hard to see how the impact is different than pushing down on screwdriver, have to use one to see i guess, which means buying one! oh no...

i have been after the bosch one for a while, as all the reviews, magazines etc rave about it, however i don't like the grip as much as the dewalt. the sort of sideways H shape fits nicely to me, means when holding it pointing up or down the weight is better distributed and it is not trying to dip out of your hand.

I really only want these for getting around small places or doing lots of driving, where my big green driver begins to weigh a lot very quickly. That means i am not too worried about the range for that particular battery so it was not even a consideration...

given all the good things i head about the bosch, i was just concerned i had heard _nothing_ about the dewalt... still not much can go wrong and good brand generally... so i'll probably take the plunge.

I have the makita set. Absolutely lovely to use due to the lack of weight! Power is not a problem either, the battery's die suddenly once their out of juice and they charge quickly! The LED light also comes in handy too! If mine broke tomorrow i would buy another set immediately! You won't be disappointed.

I've got the Makita set too and its fantastic. Assembled the wifes log cabin workshop with them - easily drives 6" screws through solid pine. True that the batteries do suddenly drop off - not much warning that you're getting low.

Use the Dewalt 18vs at work and I rate them very highly - can't see why they wouldn't be just as good at the 10.8v stuff.

Impact driver is a little noisy but means no slippage of the bit and no tendency to cam out.
