Cutting Lignum vitae on a bandsaw ?

So I've never tried working with the stuff - how hard is Lignum ? I've got an Axminster AWBS. Will it happily cut through 92mm of Lignum with a nice new Dragonsaw blade and slow feed rate or am I asking for trouble ?

It behaves more like soft brass or aluminium than timber.

Hi,

I have been eyeing up by balls (bowling) and the band saw thinking about cuting them and extracting some usefull peices, or just drilling a hole and making a 'koff mallet.

So a fine toothed blade and a slow feed?

I cut through a 100mm diameter log with a 6TPI on my crappy DW876 - no problems at all apart from holding the round piece.
Turned into a giant mallet - the handle is ash.
