I have a Scheppach wet grinder, for my turning tools, and was looking to use it for planer blades and my #80 cabinet scraper.

So far all the Tormek jigs have fitted fine, however I have one that doesn't :(

the planer guide has legs 9.2cm centres apart, and the Scheppach 10cm.

I could make a custom mod and move the posts to whichever position I need... any reasons why this is a bad idea?

Hi

I'd go for two new holes at the correct centres - the only consideration I can see would be to ensure you can replicate the angles required on the jig without it being obstructed by another part of the grinder, (specifically the clearance between the threaded bars and whatever is housed 'in the box', but check for other areas.

Regards Mick

I had to take everything apart to get in there, including switch, and one screw held the earth on, so then had to take wiring box apart and then work out where wires went, and the crimped clip came off, and it's becoming long story.... However i did need to elongate. Good use for a dremmel.

So I had to elongate rather than new holes as the mechanism underneath gets in the way.

it was a bit of a pain, and rather fortunate I had a copy of the wiring diagram.

I had hoped to leave it so I could move the post between the two positions easily, however getting in there with spanner requires taking a lot of it apart, and getting the post upright and exactly in line with the other post was a bit of a chore, so I'd rather leave it.

I rarely grind from the top side anyway, this is mostly for turning tools.

Then I needed to true my stone. And of course the support now doesn't fit. No problem, I put it in the front. Except that is offset to the left, and therefore the diamond bit doesn't reach the other side...
So now I had to order a Tormek support bar which will fit in rear holes and support the truing system...

I write this hoping it's useful for anyone else, basically the Scheppach Tiger grinder will work out of the box with the Tormek truing stone, woodturners kit, carving tools kit, the leather honing extension kit, and in fact most kits as long as they don't come with a support which requires mounting - which so far I have only encountered the planer sharpening kit.
