Hello all,

I'm looking at purchasing some hardwood (Iroko) for a bed frame I'm making.
My cutting list is as follows:

2200 x 80 x 25 (5 pieces)
2200 x 40 x 20 (4 pieces)
100 x 90 x 90 (6 pieces)

I've been given a price of £235 for all of this which includes planing it down to size.

Does this price sound fair?

Thanks

I would expect to pay about £1200 +vat per cubic metre for iroko selects, a bit more for 4" stock.

If you work out the sawn qty based on 25mm, 32mm, 102mm and add on 35% that would tell you the timber value.

Without working it out, it sounds a fair price

Having bought literally tons of KD Iroko in the past for doors, windows etc. I would say without actually doing the calculation, this is a fair price, especially if it's planed to size, especially the increased cost of timber since my last purchase.

Robins' previous comment about £1200/cube sounds about right

Many thanks both of you for your replies. I don't really know the going rate for Iroko so just wanted to be sure it sounded about right.
How long should I leave Iroko before working on it?
