im studying 3d craft design at college and furniture design is one of our modules. the brief was to design and make a chair using traditional woodworking techniques. my previous woodwork experience was mostly mdf and screws so it was great to learn some proper woodwork skills. this is the chair i made, on closer inspection there is room for some improvement....i spose practice makes perfect.

thanx, it is surprisingly comfortable. yea it is a lot more difficult than you think, i think the key is to put the seat at a angle of up to 5 degrees. i was the only one out of 11 of us to do that and it definately makes all the difference to comfort!!

Gildror, that is quite some design. Are the woods cedar and mahogany?(from the tags on Flickr).

the woods are actually tulip and 2 mahogonies, the seat and back slats are a different mahogony to the joint dowels! gil
