I am about to buy several hundred metres of sawn Cedar boards for cladding some areas of my new extension.
I intend to plane them up myself.
I need mainly 75 mm x 38 mm lengths plus a few at 150 mm x 38 mm
The 75 mm boards are £8.14 per metre the 150 mm are £8.52 per metre
It is kiln dried.
Am I being naive to think that I could just buy 150 mm boards and rip them in half? (it doesn't matter if I lose a bit, dimensions aren't critical) and effectively half the price.
Or am I missing something.
Advice appreciated

Seems strange sections for cladding?

Those prices seem to say to me they are cutting the 75mm out of something else.

If you can live with ~70 after planing, you might has well save a whole heap of cash by buying in 150mm.

That would make sense.
It looks like a no brainer. Just wondered if there was a catch I had missed.
Architect has Grand Plans for the cladding - hence the sizing.

Assuming the boards aren't tapered or treated with a penetrating sealer, then sure, why not go for the cheaper larger boards :)
