My trusty cordless driver when I picked it up today was dead, I mean not a kick.

I was out on a site so was able to borrow one.

After I was finished I picked it up and lo, it worked perfectly.

After lunch, I was back in "the shap" picked it up and it was dead again. I performed the normal fault detection techniques, shook it, thumped it, took the battery out and cleaned the connections, still dead.

10 mins later it's working again.

Now it's dead again.

Any ideas?

Does the battery have enough charge ?, my Bosch will stop and start as if it has a mind of own when the battery is down to one light, pop in a fully charged one and it works no problem until it gets to the one light again.

I’d go along with DaveP here.

I‘ve had similar issues in the past with brushed drills, dead then alive, dead and then…change of brushes and then alive.

Went back out after tea and it fired up perfect.

So I put it on the charger as per
MARK.B. Came to full charge in 15 mins.

I'll see how that goes failing that I'll check the brushes as per
pe2dave

Thanks all.

Today there was no power in "the shap" They're doing something to the line, it's been going on for months.
Being forewarned I lined up four small outside jobs and charged up the bosch in preparation.

Starting off almost fully charged I horsed in a couple of hundred 60mm screws into softwood and she's still going strong.

I think Mark B got it right, erratic behaviour due to a somewhat depleted battery.

I hope thats it anyway.
