Blog, What does it mean?

I have seen the word blog used at on or two photo server websites, can anyone tell me its purpose and how it it used?

Blog is short for "Web Log" - a kind of online diary, sometimes permitting others to comment - usefulness depends on the author (as with forums & newsgroups) .

Wikipedia is a useful online encyclopedia for these techy terms.

I must be having a bad day

A recent thread I was doing (jewellery box) allows anyone to post comments. Does it mean if I have blogged an article, only those appointed can blog?

I have a modest blog here.
I use www.blogger.com and it is free. It is pretty easy to do and they provide all you need to get going.

But how do I create that hot spot such as Phillies using the word "here" in blue?

When you post a reply, if you put your cursor over the "URL" at the top right you will see the code.
First type and then insert your link and finish with ]
then type the text you want to appear as the "hotspot"
then complete with
To test it works press "preview" .
(I use paste and copy to insert my links-I tend not to make mistakes that way)
