I completely agree with the other posters, ask ian and he will give you good direction on what will be suitable for your use and saw.

I expect he will reccomend his 'Sabrecut' range as you are talking about cutting green woods:
  • A specialist Diamond Ground carbon steel blade with hardened teeth, these blades have an aggressive tooth design so that they can cope with very thick stock.
  • These blades will cut all types of wood but are especially suitable for cutting green wood due to the deep gullets and tooth set.
  • These blades have heavier set on the teeth to create extra clearance when cutting. The extra set reduces or eliminates problems caused by resin and improves blade life. The extra set also makes radius cutting a lot easier in thicker stock.
  • Due to the aggressive tooth design and tooth set, these blades will leave a rougher finish than other blades, but if you want to cut really thick stock (even on a low powered bandsaw) then these are the blades to use!

I will second the advice for SuperTuff Sabrecut blades from Tuffsaws, their tooth pattern is optimised for green wood.

@clogs : Just ask for M42 or ''διμεταλική Μ42 πριονοταινία'' (dimetaliki M42 prionotenia).

There are many sellers, but they sell them mostly as metal cuting blades, so I am not sure if you can find the correct length for your bandsaw.

Just a couple of links to give you an idea (unfortunately I havent found any with English language option):

ΠΡΙΟΝΟΤΑΙΝΙΑ ΚΟΠΗΣ ΣΙΔΗΡΟΥ M42 MORSEΜηχανήματα Σαρρής (this one says it can cut it to any desired length)

I believe the shape of the teeth for metal and wood blades are different, and maybe the gullets too.

I too use the sabrecut for cutting firewood, often not dry.

From the photos, and on TuffSaws website as well, the tooth pattern looks the same for metal and wood blades.

TuffSaws sells the 12/14tpi varitooth blade as a metal cutting blade and on the links from Greece they have the option for coarser blades (up to 3/4tpi) which is not suitable for metal I think.

pretty sure Ian does 8-10....10-12...n 12-14 vari tooth for metal....I only use the M42 cobalt type...
My band saw...still boxed after 4 years....had a few diff tooth pitches and width's.....all from Ian....
