I bought one of these as a first woodturning lathe about 12 years ago. It was excellent for the money. I needed a tool that would make round things, I had no interest in being a "woodturner". It turned out to be great for the round things, but brilliant for "woodturning". Buy it. As long as it's in good shape, you won't regret it. Anyway, they are in demand on the secondhand market, so if you upgrade or need to escape, I doubt you'll have any trouble moving it on. As RickG says, it's amazing what you can do on a small lathe.
