just a waffle really have spent my last 2 lunch hours with a chainsaw attacking a lump of ash :D its the butt were about 5 branches meet cut it in half today, the figure and colour was out of this world just hope i can get chance to turn it before it goes to fire wood.
got no shed lathe is in bits got the bug to turn after seeing the inside of the log what an inspiration :D

Sounds great !

It's what excites me about woodturning as well and keeps me involved, going from the unpromising looking log or potential bit of firewood, through the whole process to the finished article.

Always really satisfying to cut open a log and find some great figuring or spalting.

We need pics though!!!

Cheers, Paul. :D

Wood is a never ending source of surprises. You never know wht you will find under the bark. Hang on to it and make sure it's sealed against splits.

Yep,same here.
Splitting the logs to find some beautiful colouring and markings is just what makes it all worth while.
From chainsawing the logs to the finished article.Great. :D
