I've just got one of these - what a cracker! Ikra Red 2000w electric chainsaw from Tesco Direct £70 but ... up til the end of December, you can double up your Tesco Clubcard points and get it for £35s worth of points. Never been a better time. The stock No. is 598 - 7684.

In my opinion these are the best electric chainsaws available. I had a 1400watt 69 euro cheapie for over ten years chomping through about 20cu metres of firewood, mostly oak each year. When it finally stopped I treated myself to a bigger one by botche. Total crap. So much so I binned in 2 months and then searched for ikra. To my surprise they turned out to be west German, not chinese. Ordered their 2400 watt one which will plank yes using a ripping chain easily. Note ikra makes everything themselves. Only sell from their website or by special offers in supermarkets. They also guarantee to hold spares for 15 years after a product goes out of production.

It was one of your posts that made me research one. It just happened to come up a bargain. :D

Hope you enjoy it, I paid a bit more for the 2400 watt one, but I wanted to, and can rip with it.
