Another please help identify wood...

Sorry for that, but i managed to secure a pallet at work which seemed to nice to throw away. The wood is unlike anything i've seen before, but considering the most exotic i've worked with is birch... :oops: :oops: :oops:

Anyone able to identify these woods?

The ones to the right in the picture is the ones which i think can be used.
It seems to be two different types of wood, maybe three:

Very difficult to say what it is, but if its been used for pallets its likely to be quite tough so plane it and see what it turns out like.
 
yep we need to see them planed a bit. Do you know where the pallet was imported from?
 
The pallet is most likely from China or Taiwan, but could be anywhere, really.

Padauk... I will look into that. I will try and plane up one side to see how it really looks and get some pictures on here.

Ooooo! That looks very interesting....

Yes - do plane it...can't wait to see the result.

Paduk is a great wood for guitar necks...it is used quite a bit in the USA (Rickenbacker etc...) and TIMBERLINE had a very small piece last time I was there, which was gorgeous.
