The green and wetter end of the M4.
Along with tools, chocolate and toilet roll I can now add windscreen wipers to the list of things that one should never buy cheap.
I always thought the clunking was down to the 120k miles on the rest of the mechanism but no it was the cheap wiper blades I put on last year. Fitted some new ones today and what a revelation! I even turned the radio off to listen to the noise they were not making :) and I've got a cleaner windscreen too!
They are, as it said on the packet, Champion.

I didnt know that you could buy cheap ones. It certainly wasnt an option at Halfrauds last weekend. :)

Yeah tesco do their own brand in limited sizes for a few quid each. I used them once but now stick to bosch blades :)

You can get cheap & good.

Just bought 6 blades for 2 little hatchbacks last week - Bosch quality - they are rebranded by VAG, for < £2 each.

Don't do Halfrauds unless I have no choice.

On the subject of stuff for the car - replaced 1 headlight bulb (normal modern one) last year, got done for about £7. Nothing special about it.

Then was collecting some parts from VAG for the Audi recently - and bought a box of 10 for £10. How's that for a p!ss take?

My Bosch ones must come from Peckham then, tried cleaning the glass with allsorts but makes no difference, the blades wont' clear water off the screen, they are in full contact but no good.

when I had the T5 i bought a set of Bosch ones and they drove me mad as they made a hell of a row squeaking with each sweep! I eventually changed them for another make and they were fine. Thought Bosch would be quality ones...how wrong can you be.

Can you remember what make you bought? The bosch on my T5 are exactly the same but I thought it was just the design of the screen. Drives me nuts!

VAG wipers are cheaper than "other" brands and great for VW's. Is it the same for other marques?

Standard hook fitting - fitted one set to a Toyota Yaris. Also come with a set of adapters that cover most makes.

VAG brand them under a brand called Quantum.

p.s. Here's a link for online buying - http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/shop?page=s ... ory_id=168

admittedly the price isn't what I pay, but still very value for money. And Quantum stuff is rebranded Bosch.
