DT - where do you get your materials from? I couldn't source the materials for those wardrobes for £400.

DD - think you're expensive? check out orangeth above !!!

Cheers

Karl

DT,

I would be interested to know where your prices come from, your MDF prices are 2/3 of what I paid and £50 for hinges etc is absolutely miles out.

I used screwfix hinges and door handles so not exactly top price.

I recon the material cost is about £950 and your £400 is very optimistic.

Can you post the price lists and where you would get them from please

I use Winzer Wurth for hinges - their basic 110 degree concealed hinge is less than 50p with backplate if you negotiate a discount with the rep.

Handles I get here http://www.omlfittings.co.uk/ or from Winzer Wurth.

I maybe should have allowed another £40 for handles - sorry!

For MDF make sure you go to a specialist importer or dealer of sheet materials rather than a general timber merchent. There will be one in most major conurbations. Contact the major manufacturers such as Kronospan. Medite, and Fisca to find your local stockist

I can't see that you are getting the prices you state even from Trade suppliers. I get a pallet rate from my suppliers whatever the quantity - unless its the rare occasion that I actually order a full 40 sheets and then I get a better rate still. Working on that then I would estimate paying c£30-£32 per sheet ex vat. If you have a supplier that is supplying at prices 30% lower than that then I would sure like to hear about them. :)

Cheers

DT - can you pm me as well - I would like a cheap supplier of veneered boards too !!!

Cheers

Karl

getting a couple of sheet products at pack rates has a great appeal to me as well

anthing to keep the costs down helps, you can pass some of the savings on in reduced prices

it keeps customers happy as well

It's beginning to look like I must be getting the cheapest prices in the UK for veneered MDF.

Able Board Co Ltd
Stalybridge
Cheshire
0161-338 3320 ask for Lee or Karl

They offer free delivery in the Manchester area - elsewhere I guess you'd have to collect.

I haven't got a full price list to hand; however I know that I pay £23.50 for 8x4 sheets of 18mm oak veneered MDF

Nice quality too!

Thanks for that Dan.

I haven't been able to get prices anywhere near that - my current supplier is about £40 per sheet (after trade discount, but inc of VAT). Must give them a call on Monday.

Cheers

Another option is Noyek's in Salford. They are a bit dear but still cheaper than you've been paying!

The difference in prices on sheet goods is amazing!
