Can anybody recommend a wood preservative that is safe if pecked or chewed by our garden furry/feathered friends :deer. The colour is not important

Thanks

When you say pecked or chewed, is it for a rabbit hutch/ bird box where it is likely to be chewed or for a fence/shed where the chances are less?

Its for birds & squirrels, but squirrels are the worlds worst for chewing into wood just for the hell of it :)

Thanks

i would be tempted to use something that isnt treated. I think that the RSPB recommend that approach.

You used to be able to get clear cuprinol which was bee safe, and was about the only one that was. The formula changed, so I don't know if the latest one has been tested, but i do know that the cuprinol technical team were very helpful with such inquiries.

I will give Cuprinol a call.

Thank you

A good option could be to use a naturally durable wood that needs no finish or preservative at all, such as cedar, oak or sweet chestnut, depending on what it is you are making of course.

Another option could be Accoya.
