Our Clematis has finally come into flower.

I know: you can't photograph purple flowers properly 'n'all, but they don't look too bad considering.

:)

Nice one - do you know the variety? Up here, the C. montana types are just flowering, but the big fellows are still hiding from the chilly winds.
Advantage/disadvantage of this cold spring is that flowers are lasting a lot longer than usual; nice when the flowers are gorse or something else pretty, but more of a pain when it's oilseed rape :( .

Good to see it's warming up a little up north. I thought it was the film that didn't handle purple very well?

Most films certainly don't, and the early digital cameras didn't either (I bought a weird Nikon for work, and that was quite odd. I think this one's not bad though (Canon 6D).

So far it's done really well with whatever I've thrown at it -- a bit noisy on occasions in the blacks, but way, way better than the 30D it replaced.

Nice pics - don't have a clematis anymore, they died off and I cut down our Montana but here's a photo of our Weigela coming to an end - blossom turns from pink to white (taken on my iPhone)

Beautful shots  never had a problem with purple but bright yellow and DSLR seems to struggle for some reason hence reason most of my flowers are purple lol

"And while I had the camera out..." I thought: "Oh no, not more intimate selfies"

Roger,

Yours could be the same as ours: the flowers on our one start off a rich purple, then fade in the sunlight to the same colours as yours, even going whiter still after a week or so. They go over quite fast, say ten days or so, but in good years it flowers twice, with less vigour the second time at the end of the summer.

They are pretty though.

E.

No these are always this colouring right from when they first open. Don't last very long but the plant does keep putting out new ones.
