.. past the prototype stage (I'm no good at drilling matching holes etc), even though i prefer this one to my entry, its more fun!
All parts turned from a small scrap of oak floor board apart from the sapele 'bridge, about 6 inches long, ladies and gents i give you the U.S.S Quercus.

surprisingly simple to make, from small offcuts not much good for anything and quite good for a bit of skew practice, with the only technical bit reversing the saucer - solved with a dished bit of scrap and a few dabs of hot glue. I'm sure a more detailed or accurate model could be made with the aid of other methods and tools but it did work out well for an entirely turned project.
Swmbo says I now have to make some sort of support/ stand for it now so it can go on display.

Go on make one. You know you want to... Resistance is futile! :wink:
