Yet another kitchen.....

This time a handleless painted kitchen with oak highlights.

The doors drawers and frames are painted ash.

The kitchen actually has frames but they are positioned behind the doors and drawers to fill in the gaps which act as the handles.

Oven housing with 2 oak trays on the left and 2 chopping blocks on the right 55mm keyhole slot acts as the handle to pull them out.

To be honest, the colour was one of the first things I noticed, as well... I like to see the kitchens you post here, Bob, they always show excellent workmanship and finish, but... I can't help but think that for all that there's some of them I wouldn't want in my house! The client is always right, I guess...

Anyway, I'm curious about the first picture with the trays and cutting boards - do you happen to have another picture with the cutting boards pulled out a bit, or something? Is this 'keyhole slot' as in a keyhole-shaped cutout that reaches the end of the board? My first thought when I hear that term is the kind of plunge-then-move router cut that allows you to hook things on screws!

Also: I love the idea of having things like that readily to hand in slots like that, but isn't it a bit risky putting them next to the oven - couldn't the changes in temperature particularly on only one side either get them stuck or warp them over time?) Particularly things like chopping boards, I imagine you'd have to be careful to get them pretty dry before putting them back? Or am I worrying too much about wood movement?

Apologies Dr Bob. I think the kitchen is great, there are some really tasteful bits, and I especially like the homes for the trays and boards. But I do think the colour spoils to what I think is an excellant kitchen. But then again I am not paying for it.

Yes its a course open grain wood so grain still shows through after 2 primers and 2 hand painted coats.
