Hi everyonej

I'm after abit if advice before I start a project. I've been asked to build a bobsled to hold beer in at a wedding. Weird I know but the groom loves Jamaica and his favourite film is cool runnings and there serving red stripe which is a Jamaican beer. My intial thought was to build a wooden frame around some storage tubs which will hold the beer. The bit I'm struggling with is how to make the front (the curved bit). Any tips or methods in how you would do it would be appreciated!

Thanks a lot

Matt

I would build a frame from ply, and skin it with very thin ply or mdf.

Decreasing in size circles of ply or mdf a few inches apart held on a few spars. loosely fix some card or similar on the inside and then fill between the circles with expanding foam. Allow to dry and shape with old saw blade and surform etc.

Thank's for the replies. I was thinking along the right lines. Cheers for clearing things up. What would you use to finish and get a smooth surface on top of the expanding foam?

Cheers
Matt

depends on how rough the party is! will he be wanting to take it home with him or will it be a one shot job? if the first one, I would be looking at using thin plastic and heating with a hot air gun to mould round a former, for the second I would go with paper mache as already suggested. let it dry very well before painting it. (anyone remember Blue Peter's Tracy Island?)
