Hi All

I am soon to travel to the US on business. I will be using my own power tools whilst working out there.

I am not sure if a simple plug adaptor is going to be sufficient to charge batteries and also run 240v power tools.

Can anyone advise me on what adaptors etc I may need?

Cheers

Andy

US plug socket outlets run at 110Volts, 60Hz.

240V tools will not work on these outlets, even with an adaptor.

I'm not sure about battery chargers. Some are rated only for use at 240V, others are rated at 110 to 240V. To work in the US you will need one rated for 110V

Good luck,

you can probably get adaptrors that step up 110 to 240 like the ones we have here that do the opposite - however given that hassle of transporting your tools to the states and the potential for both loss/theft and security problems wouldnt it make more sense just to hire what you need over there ?

Hi Andy

There are a lot of 240V in homes and shops.
It is 60 hz. My table saw, welder, and chip collector is all 240V. They are all in my shop along with a lot of 120V.

In home also is 240V. for heating, water heater, Cooktop, Clothes dryer. etc

You will have to change the plug-in on your equipment.
