Hello everyone, just a quick enquiry into suppliers of good quality abrasive papers for lapping operations. Anyone know a friendly, reliable place to purchase abrasives such as these? It would be nice to get very fine grades for finishing and quality is an issue as I find the cheap stuff loses its grit too quickly.

Cheers!

Bugbear, my only bench plane sole is well lapped already but I tend to use belt sander paper for any serious sole work, I find its cheaper to use for sole flattening. This stuff will be for preparing chisels and plane irons and general sharpening and metal finishing shenanigans.

Thanks for the links fellas, I'll check them out right away.

I'm with the great Joseph Whitworth on this topic:

Try the newsagents, lots of abrasive papers there, the Mail, Express, Sun, etc...
