A bit of spalted firewood...

Was filling up the log basket as spotted this nice but of spalted wood. Thought I'd give it a go (only been turning a month)...

The bowl worked ok, but the french polish was a bit of a disaster. Guess there was still some tear out i didn't sand away.

No, this is what you call spalted firewood!
New-ish turner myself, and was so pleased with the figuring in this bowl, just got to the final buffing stage, when... bang!
Half the bowl shot off at a ridiculous speed as I was applying obviously too much pressure over a crack I didn't see. Scary!!!!
The glue is tongue in cheek!
