Hi,

I need a new motor for a table saw. Given the choice between a 2 and 4 pole motor, which is the better choice, output being equal and assuming I can achieve the same blade rpm with appropriate pulley choice?

Cheers

As far as I know theres nothing to choose between the 2 as far as longevity goes bearings are well within their rated speeds whichever
My saw bench the blade goes at 2800 ish so a 2 pole with 1 to 1 gearing works well

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I understand that the speed varies, so given 2 motors of the same HP of different poles, is there any advantage or disadvantage of using gearing to achieve the desired blade speed?

Cheers
