Cheers Phil. Bit of a timely post actually. I have a dewalt de9098 18v non li-ion batts. About 5 years old. Batteries have died. It makes me quite angry actually, I'll have to bin a perfectly good tool for the battery pack. Shocking really the pure waste of it. Wall-E kept going for 100s of years and he was painted black and yellow.
I've been putting this off for a long time and bought a dewalt sds (230v) to smash the a*se out of the diy on the house. But it's a beast to pick up, good as it is for heavy duty stuff and I need a little handheld. Been looking at drill driver combination sets but they are a little lumpy. I can probably get away without the driver. (no pun intended). Reviews are good but I always start from the bottom up on big site (screwfix etc) review and they mention a loose chuck. Any issues from your use? I might swing by and pick one up otherwise at that price. Cheers for the heads up.

No problem whatsoever with mine. The reason I went for Hitachi was that I had a 14.4v until the batteries died and that was a great little tool. I had 18v DeWalts before, but as I was no longer using them for work when the batteries started dying I sold them on.

There's not really much in it when you compare the decent brand cordless drill and impact drivers.

My advice would be to pick a brand based on the batteries (cost & reliability). They're all moving towards a full range of cordless tools all running from the same batteries, so it makes sense to stick to one brand.
