    Dear Minister

I think the original post hilarious. It is so true. I do how ever find the massive over reaction to it amazing. I had to re read it a few times and i still dont get the rascism within it. You have to be a rascist to see rascism i think. The biggest dig is at the minister so does that become...

    Garden fence advice

The screw hole machine is an AUGER. I hand dug all my posts when i built my picket fence. Did just over 60 Meters and it took me 2 days. I believe if you concrete the posts in you will make it a harder job on the day you have to remove and replace rotten posts. I placed mine into the soil...

YEDL and Balfour Beattie shocking or not?

Seems like bad practise to me Markwurze but that said the cable should be safe though to touch. Think of the poor sods who have to work on it alive when its belting with rain, snow and standing water. Trouble with the eletric companies is that with privatisation and competition in connections...

    One for the builders.

I am not sure how long string would take on pipe but we use it to cut the out sheath of the underground cables to stop damaging the neutral wires on L.V. cables. It is alot faster than you would imagine if you get it right. Trouble you have unless you make a small nick is the string drifting...

Studded Knobs or what ever they are....(Daft question time?)

Hi To begin with i am no good at explaining things so here goes...I am after the plastic headed bolts to make some jigs...The ones with a fairly large head to make tightening/loosening easy so i can make some jigs for my router. USA sites refer to them as Studded knobs but i cannot find any...

Danish Oil and drying (noob question)

I need a little advice with Danish Oil. I am currently coating an Oak board with the oil and it seems to have gone sticky. Is this just the normal drying process and it will end up not sticky? Also what is best to do between each coat? Apply more or rub it down with 000 wire wool or anything...

    Long Router Bits

Yes i have worked from both sides and was left with roughly an inch to get through to complete the full cut. I ended up using a jigsaw to cut the hole totally out. All i got to do now is tidy the inside of the hole up to make it look something...any ideas on that would be nice? I do not own a...

    Long Router Bits

Hi Can anyone tell me if it is possible to buy router bits that would have a cutting depth to about 1 3/4 inch in depth or slightly more? I am trying to make a hole with a 10 inch diameter in some 3 inch thick oak. Or has anyone got some other advise that would make it easier going. So far i...

    Failed attempt at metal detection

My other hobby is metal detecting and after several years of this past time and also several metal detectors i can safely say you only get what you pay for. I cannot really speak for nail finding as my 2 main machines find them with no problems but if you do go down the metal detector line i...

    Todays Rant

In disputed currently with the claim. Fingers crossed and all that. Not sure how long the pipe was burst by the time i got home Eric but the water was running freely over my doorstep and across the drive. There was roughly a water trail of 40 yards before it vanished down the drain near my...

    I have a mad idea

I admire anyone wanting to train in something but you may want to consider the cost of it all as well. Fully qualified courses including 17th edition regs and part P are not that cheap. You can go to these micky mouse companies and gain the skill but the qualification is not worth the paper it...

    how bigs your shop?

Mine is still work in progress but. 5.5m x 5.5m for the workshop. 4.5m x 6m for the wood store. Both are being set up slowly and by spring i should be able to forget setting up and work on the "making kindling" part.
