    Parquet adhesive recommendations, with hindsight?

I've laid two floors in my house - Solid Walnut Parquet on a chipboard subfloor and Oak engineered with birch ply back and 6mm of oak onto a concrete screeded floor with wet UFH. Both times i used Lecol 5500. So far so good been down a few years and doesn't worry me at all. Incidentally the...

    carroll tools drum sander

Hi, I have a set of these I purchased in 2009. I don't use often but wouldn't be without them, I am not sure they would be a high volume sales product, but I would love to see them for sale again! Good luck with your venture if you go ahead =D>

    Planning permission & expiry

Two years ago i bought my house and there is a detached garage built in 1988. The garage was on a PP granted that also included a large 3 storey extension. I enquired with the Local Authority, and the said that I 'could just get on and build the extension'. The drawings were 30 years old, and i...

    Kitchen cabinet standards?

Hi Farmer Giles, My two penneth... I built full birch ply cabinets last year on standard dimensions and purchased all of my hardware from Hafele. I am very happy with it all but there is something to be aware of, especially if you like a really good quality 'thing' - I purchased my drawer...

    single phase panel saw

I looked at the WA6 last year, size being one of the reasons (plus Altendorf quality) and thought of the converter option... I went with the Felder K500S machine in the end and couldn't be happier. I don't think the WA6 is anything like 'normal' Altendorf quality, possibly manufactured by...

WIP Painted face frame kitchen- Birch Ply

Skipdriver, The 'laying off' brush that i bought was a Hamilton, it just left long brush strokes in the paint however i used it. The picasso wont leave lines when used side by side. I haven't used any other hamilton brushes on this project though. I guess its about expectation - the finish i...

WIP Painted face frame kitchen- Birch Ply

Thanks for the positive comments- to answer a few questions- First of all - the colour. My wife purchased every grey colour from the Mylands range one at a time at £4.50 a pop and still could not decide. I was desperate to get some paint on, so went with Mylands light grey primer. She looked at...

WIP Painted face frame kitchen- Birch Ply

OK, a pile of wood for the doors: The doors are 25mm thick, with 75mm rails and stiles. I have grooved the panels in approx 20mm and used 6mm ply for some of the doors and 6mm mdf for others as that's what i had spare at the time. I have run the 20mm groove around the ends of the rails and...

WIP Painted face frame kitchen- Birch Ply

Steve F - Re socket - I am pretty confident that this wont get wet, but time will tell. No fused spur on this one i'm afraid, i can get access behind via the dishwasher if need be to add one. Thanks for your comments :)

WIP Painted face frame kitchen- Birch Ply

Face frames were made from Poplar/Tulip wood. This is the first time I have used this timber and it machines and works beautifully although as many others have previously said, it is very soft. Drawer face frame - I routed an 8mm cock bead onto the frame. The frame was 27mm deep and 40mm wide...

WIP Painted face frame kitchen- Birch Ply

This is my first, and possibly last kitchen build, and I researched a great deal on this forum, taking tips from numerous other kitchen build threads. Unfortunately, i am a little light on pictures in the early stages but if anyone has any specific questions about how I went about a certain task...

WIP Painted face frame kitchen- Birch Ply

Been on this project at weekends/evenings since July!! Although i didn't start building the actual kitchen until October. To give it a little context, it started with a 1980's hand built kitchen (very nicely made) that i removed from a kitchen that was a little starved of natural light...

How Long would it take you to Make new Kitchen cabinets?

I am in the later stages of this for the first time, I only have weekends/evenings but do have a decent workshop that I have gradually built up. Its a medium/largish kitchen at 4m x 4m with an island. Carcasses - Plywood, made amazing progress, cut joined, lacquered finished in around 3 to 4...

    last post

I owned a DX5000 for a year or so, great sucker, does tend to get clogged up but just needs looking after. Reason for me getting rid - The noise - the motors were just way too noisy for me. Now have a Jet with induction motor that I am very happy with, Thanks

    Experience of buying PAR tulipwood

I am interested in finding out how others buy timber for kitchen doors. I have built my kitchen with Birch Ply carcass/27mm tulip wood face frames and now need to make some shaker doors. I am unsure whether to: a. Buy rough sawn timber (say 32mm) and machine down myself. - more work. b. Buy...

    Cash discount

Sedgwick will not sell direct. As for cash discounts, most sellers are not particularly interested. It involves additional work and risk banking I guess. Unless it helps to defraud the VAT- but I don't believe anybody does that :)

    Saw Blades

Sorry - but these are my two sadly negative experiences in the last month. Have had cutting solution's blade TS blade before and its been good. Recently wanted another and the phone wasn't answered so I left a message. Phone call back, four working days later- I politely said I had sourced...
