    Bandsaw blade tracking

Your blade is probably well worn, when you get the new one, then track it to dead centre and I think you will find that it will stay there. When blades have been overused they tend to wander when cutting and also they do not stay in the position that you set them at. One of the greatest failings...

    Knotting

As I use a lot of Shellac I have always used that on knots so I can only agree. Derek.

    Willow, what's it good for?

Not a lot of good, it even burns too quickly. derek.

    Outdoor green oak, oil suggestion?

Raw linseed is my choice for this, several coats over a few days will give a long protection time and it is pleasing to the eye. Derek.

    IROKO

Well I guess you've covered it all but, I must agree, I love Iroko, the look and tte final finish, if you can put up with all the problems with the working of it an the awful aroma given off, I have a bit left over and I really must try and bring myself to making something of it. derek.

You can get a Silverlight biscuit Jointer through Ebay for only a few pounds more, although not the very best, a very adequate tool for day to day use. Derek.

    Finishing Sapele

In front of me in my sitting oom, I have a television and video unit finished with R.P.C. alongside that I have a table finished with Danish oil, both of these are made from English Oak, I can't tell the difference in the finish and neither can anyone else, as for looking like plastic, never! Derek.

    Finishing Sapele

For a toy box that is going to get some hard wearing treatment, I would use Rustin's plastic Coating, near enough to being indestructible. Derek.

    Does Danish oil.....

Do you have to use Danish Oil? What's wrong with Rustin's Plastic Coating? Derek.

    The final polish.

I found a tip on Router Workshops this morning, I just thought I'd pass it on as it had many good reviews, for the final polish on any object, use printer paper flat but not on a machine, keep the surface of the paper clean by turning to a new side and you will get the finest finish ever...

For my two-penn'orth, PVA will stick anything provided that one surface is absorbent. derek.

Is this Dulux finish any good?

Personally, Whitecat, I would not use that product at all. it looks like a waterbased acrylic wood stain to me, if you want to change the colour, use a spirit wood dye for a better and all over effect and finish with Shellac or Danish oil, Rustins Plastic Coating would be good too. Derek.

How do I put wooden knobs on?

And put a little glue onto the back of the knob, hold the screw and turn the knob will give you better control. Derek.
