Best Paint Sprayer - Reasonable Cost

I am thinking of spaying the doors of my kitchen. I've done a bit of airbrushing in my time and am assuning that the general basic principles apply. I will check more information though. However, at this point it will be a one off job and may not necessitate buying any kit but rather hire it...

    Hafele Shelf Clamp Supports

I need to fit these shelf support clamps. The thing is that the screws that clamp the glass shelf in place have a chrome cap. I am assuming that this has to be removed to allow access to a screwdriver/allen key hole to allow tightening and fixing the shelf in place. There is no way I can...

    Hardening MDF

Hands up, I made a mistake. I panelled our bathroom in MR MDF which has worked just fine. However, I bought MDF skirting without thinking, not MR MDF. Now, there has been a drip from the shower door when it is opened, just enough to sit on the skirting and cause the paint to lift and get into...

Linseed Oil on Acrylic Primer or Undercoat

A friend of mine has had new timber windows installed that have been primed/undercoated with acrylic paint. She is now insistent that she wants to topcoat them with linseed oil paint. Is this a good idea? TIA

US equivalent nearest to UK M10 bolt

I am replacing the feet on my Jessem router table with lockable castors. The existing feet are secured by a bolt welded to the foot that appears to be an M10 bolt, or so I thought. So I have the castors and some M10 bolts, but the bolts are slightly too big. It then occurred to me that Jessem...

    Bird Poo & Roofing Felt

I’ve just finished my new man cave and about 2 months ago I had the roof felted 3 layers and torched on. We were just fitting the final bit of guttering today and …. WTF? ….. lumps of bird pooh from where they sit in the overhanging trees landing on the felt was actually rotting the felt! It...

New Workshop - Down Lighters or Light Fittings

I’ve demolished my old workshop and I am building a new one in it’s place the same size of 6.5 x 5.0m x 2.4m. Now, I was never very happy with the quality of lighting in my old workshop. I started off with multiple spot lights, it seemed a good idea at the time. It wasn’t. I replaced these...

    Workshop Machinery Dust-covers

I'm not using some of my machines much these days and am struggling whether or not to move them on or hang onto them for the occasional project. So I am wondering whether or not it would be a good idea to protect them with dust sheets of some description, as I am leaning towards keeping them...

It Doesn't Matter How Many Years I Collect Stuff Just In Case ....

..... I never have the thing I need! I'll post this here as it is actually a screw from a machine. Can anyone tell me what type of screw this is and where I can get one from. Yes, just the one so of course I will need a packet of them. Not a problem, I can stick the rest in my "just in case"...

Sold Myford Mystro II Lathe + Chisels For Sale

I am having a workshop downsize and this is the first item that needs to go. I am ashamed to admit that my eyes were bigger than my belly when I bought this and as far as turning skills go, this lathe is way beyond my pay grade. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed a bit of woodturning but I never...

    Workshop Roof

I am going to demolish my 30 year old workshop and build another in it's place. The old one has served me well, but is an extended shop bought shed, all built in 2"x 2" and is sagging/rotting/leaking and generally showing signs of collapse. I guess I could get a few more years out of it but it...

1/2" brad point drill bit do they exist in the UK?

Can anyone tell me where to get one of these please? I have 12mm too small & 13mm too big because of course, I need 1/2". It has to be good quality so I don't mind paying a bit extra. Whatever I've found so far is part of a set, sold in multiples or imported and a long wait time. Is there...

Squirrels. Love ‘em or hate ‘em?

We thought we would put up a peanut feeder for the birds. We thought it would be squirrel proof. It seems the squirrels had different ideas!

    Evostik Weatherproof vs Titebond 3

I ran out of Titebond 3 and had to buy a small Evostik Weatherproof from the local shop as Titebond 3 was online only. Emergency job! Is it me or is Evostik a little bit useless? My glueing just pulled apart the next day. Tried again, same problem. I’ve used gallons of Titebond 3, never a problem.

    Routing cherry

I have embarked on something that could either be brilliant or a disaster. I’m making some built in wardrobes out of cherry, so far so good. However, I’ve noticed that the cherry has a tendency to splinter in the router easily. I’ve solved this more or less. The router bits are new, silicon...

    Paint spray extraction

Hello, I’m talking here about spraying a room. My nephew does wall panelling as one of his many skills and I’m terms of finishing had used brush & roller. He’s just done a room for us and invested in an airless paint sprayer. Yes, we were the Guinea pigs! But the finish is super. Thing is, he...
