    eBay questions

If I remember correctly Whitworth sizes refer to the bolt diameter not the head size so a 13/16ths whitworth would be much larger than 13/16ths A/F spanners were an abbreviation of across the flats, i.e the nut size.

I know this a long shot but how much should I expect to pay for 4 Ikea kitchen units, Oven and hob with wiring and a new worktop , not including materials?

    wooden worktops

I've been looking at worktops from "Worktop Express"for our kitchen. Does any body have any knowledge of them? Their prices seem very reasonable including cutting

    wood worktop

When cutting a cutout for a 1 & 1/2 sink is it better to cut for each bowl or treat them as one? I tried to get a local firm to cut it but they didn't want to do such a small job, they wanted to fit my whole kitchen

    Builder or plumber.

I have a problem with the outlet pipe to our toilet. It is an old house and the pipe is ceramic but I can't get a good joint with modern plastic. My question is should I seek a plumber or a builder to break out the old pipe and fit plastic or would it be better to look for a builder? I'm sure...

    Kitchen knives advice

I have a failing for knives. I have some Tsuki, japanese steel and style but made in china, very sharp and keep their edge well. My favourite knife is a Lakeland chefs knife (select range I think, just over £30 ) For sharpening I use a Edgepro (Proedge?) clone bought on ebay, a fantastic piece...

    eBay questions

If I remember correctly the spanner size refers to the diameter of the bolt not the size of the head, thus it is not unreasonable to need yo know the actual opening size as it may fit something else.

    Photography

After many years of taking mediocre snaps with the occasional photo mixed in I have bought a bridge camera. I now need to learn how to use it effectively. I know there are many keen photographers on the forum and I would like to tap into their wisdom to find out the best way of learning. Time is...

Anyone use a knife sharpening "gadget"?

I bought mine from ebay but I can't remember the company's name. I think they are £30/5 but well worth it. I have just looked on abay and the seller is tomtop' price just over £22. I also bought an extra set of stones for less than a tenner from another seller

Anyone use a knife sharpening "gadget"?

I bought an Edge -Pro clone, Chinese but it works brilliantly without need for any skill. Now I only need a couple of strokes with a ceramic "steel" and I have knives sharper than I have ever known. The Edge -Pro site has videos showing set up and use, the clone I bought is a replica of the real...

    ink cartridges

Has anyone any recommendations for printer ink? I have used compatibles before but I don't which are the best. I have just bought a new printer but on setting it up I found that the included cartridges are "Setup only"which did annoy me, how much more can it cost to put a sensible amount of ink...

    knife sharpening

Jacob, water stone/ oil stone , the action is the same. A steel will not sharpen a blade ,only re-establish an edge, any fool can indeed use a steel, and ruin an edge at the same time. I know your disparaging remarks may make you feel superior but they don't help anyone else. I realise the ebay...

    knife sharpening

I want to sharpen my kitchen knives . I know the best way is with a water stone but I have no skill at all with this method (at my age I have no inclination to put the time in to acquire such skill) I have looked at various gadgets for sharpening , I even tried one machine and although it did...

    Jigsaws

Thanks guys. I was beginning to suspect it was my poor use of the saw. I will practice on an offcut of said worktop.

    Jigsaws

I need to cut a worktop (wood) to take a sink. I have tried using a jigsaw in the past with very poor results so am reluctant to risk a worktop disaster. I do admit my jigsaw is a cheap thing but apart from the blade quality I don't see how the devise moving the blade can make a vast difference...
