Pine dresser top using newish pine - getting that old look?

Doesnt Rico Daniels ( le salvager) give his woodwork a spray of diluted caustic soda before waxing to get that aged look, as I recall he sprays it on letting it "bite" ( his word, not mine) into the wood and when dry applies coloured wax with brush.

    which table saw

Kalimna, I have to agree with Mike and suggest the Ax ts200, yes you would be sacrificing 18mm ( if that is truly the case) of cutting depth, 93mm cutting depth from a 250mm blade means that saw table is pretty thin, but cast iron tables and an induction motor more than make up for this in my...

Cascamite - In case I might.....

Storing Cascamite tip.... Empty said contents from tub into a poly bag and expel as much free air as possible then tie with wire wrap ( can also be done with resealable poly bags to same extent ) then place back in orginal container so you know what it is in six months time :D , then simply...

    truing a grinding stone.

Eoin, Axminster have a cheapish dressing stone here: http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Axminster-Diamond-Dressing-Block-21896.htm dont exactly know how well it would perform as I have the Tormek truing jig, but it may get you out of trouble for a lot less than a new wheel or the Tormek jig. Tormek Sharpening systems

David, I think the only difference apart from the diameter of the stone (8" and 10") is that the larger is rated continous use ie all day long, whereas the smaller version is limited to 30/60 minutes IIRC or something of that nature, least that is what it was with the 1200 & 2000 models. As far...

    Tornado brand cutters

Cheers fellas, thats what I wanted to hear... Steve, Like you its just Hobby use and I cant justify £70 upwards on 1 cutter, but wanting to buy a "set/s" rather than indavidual cutters I saw them as a bargain. Olly, thanks for reinforcing my thoughts of being a bargain, like I said £70-80 on 1...

    Tornado brand cutters

Hi fellas, Has anyone had these routers cutters(bits) from "dare I say" Rutlands? I want to get a small collection of profiles to extend the use of my routing, but not being a Pro cant really justify ££££ for the CMT offerings although I would like too. So, has anyone bought/used these cutters...

    Electrolysis

Hi Charlotte, I have used this technique several times , and agree with James that you do indeed have it wired up correctly (anode on the +ve, part/s to be derustified on the -ve ) and hes right with bicarb is NOT what you should be using, sodium carbonate (washing soda) is what I usually use...

routing dilema - with the grain is with rotation of router?!

Fobos, if the table is square/rectanglar I would be tempted to route the end grain first (both ends ) using a backer of scrap wood to eliminate as much tearout as possible then finish with the sides/edges. I also agree with frugal, in "rough" cutting most of the material off and making a final...

    Rycotewood Proposals

Rob, two IF`s... If I can arrange some owed holidays for said event, and if Rycotewood is situated in Oxford OCVC (town centre) I could do both days (Fri & Sat) all day, as its fairly local to me (20 miles) and travelling wouldnt cost me anything as my company have transport into Oxford every 30...
