Replacing conveyor belt Performax 22-44 drum sander

Chris I have the Jet version and managed to tear the belt because it was not properly tensioned. Given the high cost of these belts I was very careful to get the tensioning right on the replacement! My machine has captive nuts on threads either side of the belt that regulate the tension, I...

    Fein dustex orTrend T30?

I have used the Trend vac regularly for 15 years without any problems as a power tool takeoff and workshop cleaner. Yes it is heavy but it has taken everything that I have asked it to do in its stride. Simon

    Buying a workshop

Have a look at http://www.elbecgardenbuildings.co.uk/index.aspx I have just purchased one of their Mammoth workshop sheds, no doubt about the quality it has solid 3x2 framing and plenty of bracing. I went for the loglap rather than shiplap. All of the timber is the finished size quoted...

    jig making dvd

I have found them all useful, they are well made and presented and include sketch up drawings of jigs too. Steve has a natural aptitude for making jigs or setting up machines to work better or more consistently.

    Opinions please

Yes it is under tension when mounted under the table.

    Push Stick

Yes, it is an engineering term usually applied to reciprocating engines but in Steve's explanation he wanted to point out where the saw fence should end in relation to the circumference of the saw blade to reduce/avoid kickback. Simon

    Opinions please

It shouldn't do as no different to fitting a router to a router table, I guess it would depend on how long you left it in the systainer. I have an 18 year old router fitted to a table which has shown no ill effects after two years. Simon

    tree identification?

I agree with Ironballs as field maples have toothed lobes on the leaves, it is a Montpelier Maple, which comes with 3 or 5 lobed leaves. However, I think that its wood properties will be similar to field maple as it is classed in the same family as field and tartar maples Simon

    Projects for the little one

Your daughter will probably only have started senior school when you are finished! Refurbishing a house takes a long time when you live in it and have to work to earn the money to pay for the materials and of course the tools that each new job requires  . I took fifteen years to finish...

    Router table lift

Hmmn, I think that you will need a collet extension too. As depending on the plate/table thickness your bits may be too short. I have a venerable ELU 1/2 inch shank router and it used to drive me mad, mounting and dismounting it from the the table just to change the router bit, or crawling...

    Router table lift

Ron I have a Jessem table and their router lift, so I have no experience of Kreg. Jessem's ROUT-R-LIFT II model 02312 is stated as compatible with Hitachi Routers M12VC-KM2VC, the relevant webpage can be found here http://www.jessem.com/ROUT-R-LIFT_II.html I sourced my older version from...
