Just an oak money box to put my coppers in. Had some issues with patchy marks on the end grain when oiled so I re-sanded and settled for a varnished finish.
Thanks for the suggestion but I don't own a scraper and my planing skills ( both setting up and using ) aren't there yet. I've been using a belt sander to do most of the work and then worked through a few paper grits by hand to a nice smooth finish.

British Hardwoods online in Yorkshire have some really nice oak. Not too local but they do deliver. I was bought a hobby pack of oak which contained some really decent sized offcuts.
