    Seasoning Holly

Holly is wonderful to carve green, one of my favorites for spoons. But it can crack and split easily

    Plywood laminated work bench

I was given an Oak Table but as it had been left outside the top had gone so i used the frame with some stiffners and laminated 4 layers of 3/4 ply for the top. Rock solid, stable and used for everything every day. Being very sad on the day i put it in the workshop I levelled the top in both...

    Dowel jig

I have in the past made lengths of dowel by drilling out a suitably sized nut to the diameter required. Then cutting six slots with a triangular file into the face of the nut. I prepare the dowel in much the same way as with a dowel plate, but I put one end into a drill and drive the length of...

    brass pin hinge for box

I have made a few of these boxes, and I use a bit of thickened superglue. Public Liability insurance

Do you intend the insurance for selling or are you looking company liability insurance. If the latter then 350 might not be too bad, but if it is simply public liability in case someone trips over on your stall then 50 quid is resonable. Try direct line my wife pays under 50 for stall selling...

    Small Kasa in Holly

Lurker you have to slow the drying down, the first one of these split like crazy, this one has distorted a little. But I kept this one in a zip lock plastic bag when I was not working on it. I allowed it to dry slowly and gently over a few weeks. Holly can be a pain for splitting

    Small Kasa in Holly

Ironballs I drink anything from it, Kasa's are traditional drinking cups from the northern parts of sweden. They are usually made from birch burrs, but I did not have one to hand :( I spend alot of time hiking and camping with my scout group and its a bit more personal than the obligitory...
