Well I have ordered one, will report back once it arrives, I am hopeful of the outcome as its Westfelia a very respected German company, admittedly in tow bars and roof racks, but you never know.

I know what you mean, but I was in the market for a lightweight battery screwdriver and came across the Westfalia, I have on a number of occasions needed a right angle drive in a tight space so this looked like an ideal solution to my needs.

I bought off Westfalia Tools when I was stationed in Germany years ago. They are an established mail order company then specialising in German designed and made products for the home market but like many other companies, they source the majority of their products in the Far East.

They are not linked to Westfalia Automotive who engineer and produce probably the best towbars made anywhere together with Motorhomes and van conversions. Used them for years and still do as they are absolutely superb.

This screwdriver has been on the market for a while in various guises and brands and a local store, Charlies, sell the Batavia badged version, as do Amazon.

Thought it was too good to be true, but we shall see when it arrives.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised, several German DIY mags and Amazon reviews think they are pretty good. If you want a driver for those almost inaccessible places then the twin articulation looks to be excellent. I look forward to hearing your views on it.

(PS I hope you didn't think that I was being a smart **se regarding the Westfalia bit but one of my friends who owns a James Cook motorhome (Westfalia make them), bought some accessories for it thinking that if it was Westfalia it would be top notch. He received, to put it in his own words, 'catalogue tat'.

I did not think you where being a smart alec, I took it in the way it was meant as being a useful bit of information.

I have always used Westfalia removable tow bars in the past when I have needed one, and have always been pleased with the results, on my latest Touring it is impossible to see any evidence of a tow bar from the rear which is how I like it.

Its now been eight days since I placed my order and I have not received it, I have a confirmation order, but no dispatch note, I will give it until Monday and then cancel the order.

Arrived this morning, its quite substantial, in that it has some heft to it, but light enough to be usable above head height which is what I wanted, one hour charge time and lots of screw, socket bits in a nice holder and belt clip, shame as my girth/age  does not allow use of a belt, can't see it working on my brace's, I will be using it today and will report back on the length of time it can be used before it needs charging.

Drilled and fixed about two dozen 100mm No 10's into the ceiling of our living room (wooden coving) including half a dozen inserts for the plasterboard and it still does not need charging, the only down side is that it does not have a torque setting so just need to slow down the screwing speed a little near the end, the speed control is very accurate, all in all I am very pleased with it, light weight and powerful, not too taxing on the hands.
