Yew bowl ??????

Ok so lets get to the bottom of this,I said in a previous post that this bowl was 'yew' and I think now that we all belive it is not.So if it's not 'yew' can anybody tell me what it is?

this is a branch from the same tree and if you look to the right of it you can just see the other half of the lump that the bowl came from(it was a junction between two branches and I've cut it through the middle if you know what I mean).So yew or not yew that is the question?

I would go with Cherry rather than Yew.

its cherry- all cherry will have ellipitical marks on the bark-kinda like little horizontal scars.

Looks like cherry to me too - I have a log just like that out the back.

Markings on the bark makes me think it's cherry too. Mountain ash has similar markings. I'd still go for cherry as said above.

hazel- dont know
holly- no very smooth bark, somtimes it has little circular bumps but i mainly smooth.

From the markings on the bark I would have sworn it was Grey poplar at that girth(very common around here), but the grain does look cherry - like.

Its cherry, The markings could make you think its poplar but thats possibly due to the camera angle and flash. Cherry for sure.
