Very nice.
There looks to be more 'swirl' on the underside of the lid than the top - is this an optical illusion or is the lid double skinned, if you see what I mean?

Very nice indeed. I have not really done any segmented type of work but intend to in the future.

Another question about the lid have you got a jig to cut the curves so they match and line up. Or is there a technique you use.

Yes the final sizing of the segments is done with a jig on a disc sander.

Two factors have to be taken into account, the two radii have to match and the segment width has to to be exact for the segments to meet in the middle.

I like these, they have a warm and homely air. Nice work Chas! :)

Fortunately most just end up as design opportunities, hence rarely are two pieces the same just similar.
Time in the shed and past frustrations have got the better of my patience these days and if it looks as though it's likely to be a looser it rapidly goes in the firewood bag.

It's usually at this stage that things go wrong, the item below being the result of someone breaking my concentration mid glue-up last week.
