Hi all,

I bought a couple of 3m steel rods and they were taped to this plank of wood.

Quite heavy, looks like hardwood and wondered if anyone knows what it might be?

It's 100mm x 20mm x 3m

That looks like a piece of rubber wood. They used to burn the trees when they stopped producing latex but now it get used for all sorts. My oak engineered flooring has it as a backer and the grain and colour is identical

Second for rubber wood. Remember the cheap 6 inch square 'parquet' floors that were a budget DIY fit a few years ago. ? It was rubber tree sold as ' Parawood'.

Thank you guys, I'm leaning rubber wood as well.
It has a very rough feel - almost hessian like.

Lovely colour - going to do something with it ;)
