I'm making a small cupboard for the living room, to fit at the side of a sofa where there isn't enough room for a hinged door.

I think I'll therefore be fitting sliding doors, but having only ever used wooden runners I'm not sure what sort of runners would work best for this.

Looking on eBay at ads like this, we've got groove mounted and side mounted hinges. I assume I just need the ones with the least height?

Any other suggestions?

Some Members here fit wardrobes out recently, and very well too!
Their advice would be far better than any out of date stuff in my head,
Meanwhile, The link you have provided above is for drawer runners, soft close,
Here's a link for a single sliding door kit from fleabay, hunt round you may find smaller sets.

Thanks blackrodd. So are drawer runners no good then? The door will be fairly small, probably 90cm x 50cm

Interesting question, and one I know not a lot about.
I'd just rather use the proper thing, Safer and probably easier, self closing or soft close runners
will, no doubt be a pain to set up and use, bearing in mind you will need to design and make some sort of bottom track or guide to work with the runners.
Mock it up in you're workshop and see!
