If you go to Peter Sefton's web page (http://www.peterseftonfurnitureschool.com/) there's a small box on the right-hand side proclaiming a "Hand tool day" on 1st Dec (2012). When you then go to that page (http://www.peterseftonfurnitureschool.c ... -tool-day/) it gives information about the "new Peter Sefton Tool Shop". However, there's little to no more information about this on the web site. Neither is there any information on his Facebook or Twitter pages. A Google search reveals an as yet unpopulated web page (http://peterseftontoolshop.com/)

I've done a number of forum searches and also drawn a blank.

With the reported opening a little over two weeks away, I would have thought there'd be a bit more info.

Anyone know anything more about this?

Hi Fromey

Thanks for showing interest in our new tool shop – we are currently making a new website (http://www.peterseftontoolshop.com) – and as you rightly say it is still under construction ready for launch to coincide with the Hand Tool Day at our workshops in Worcestershire on Saturday 1st December (10am-4pm) – sorry if all wasn’t clear but here is the link to the Hand Tool Day Page http://www.peterseftonfurnitureschool.com/hand-tool-day/

There's a 10% Tool discount on the day and you'll have the chance to meet some Tool Makers such as Ashley Iles and Clifton Planes along with Nick Gibbs from British Woodworking magazine. Show visitors (and new subscribers to our newsletter http://peterseftonfurnitureschool.u...ibe?u=2e363c8bc4c958a9b7cf80ef5&id=38c4d37259)
all have a chance to win a £100 voucher to spend on tools with us. We stock all the brands you would expect; Veritas, Ashley Iles, Thomas Flinn, Robert Sorby, Clifton and Quangsheng Planes, Abranet, Swann Morton, Joseph Marples ... to name but a few.

Hope to see you and any friends there; there is plenty of parking …

PS we are also working on some individual items that only the Tool Shop will stock (Phase 2;-).

Regards

Peter

Looking forward to the open day on Saturday and as I will be on your beginners course on the 10th I will be in the market to stock up on some new hand tools.

The tool show was great today...

Plenty to see and do, especially liked taking to Clifton, you can't beat a good bit of British cast iron and steel in the hand...

The web site is also up and running...

Fantastic day, very informative and I came away with a new 5 and half Clifton Plane. I took my my 9 year old son along as my wife had to go out and he was made very welcome by all. Thank you Peter and Sarah. A special thanks To Nick Gibbs, editor of British Woodworking, and Mick Hudson, of Clifton planes, for their special 'instruction' of my son. I now have a son who is totally smitten by the concept of working with wood.

I start a beginners 5 day course followed by the 5 day improver course with Peter Sefton next Monday, really look forwad to stopping reading and actually doing!!

I take it he's more likely to get his own coping saw and a spokeshave in his Xmas stocking than the miniature plane he was coveting.

Jeremy, no your on the slippery slope. I started with a a beginners course, followed by an improvers course and then the full 9 month course I'm on now, with a couple of finishing courses in between.

Enjoy your Clifton 5-1/2, a good choice - British iron all the way...

It was good to see your son enjoying himself on Nick's stand, a woodworker in the making.

One of the other full time student's son has been bitten by the bug as well.

Enjoy the next two weeks and I'm sure you will.

And come back to the next open day in July 2013 when all the full time students will have there master pieces on display....

Regards

Garry

My son has already re-written his Christmas list, was last seen pouring over the Axminster catalog trying to find one of the Mini Veritas block planes that Nick was using !!!

Thanks Jeremy – your son did have infinite patience for his age! Glad he has caught the woodworking bug; it’s lovely to see in one so young. If you do know the details of the Veritas miniature plane he was using and want one, let us know as we are a stockist and supply Brimarc.

Thanks also to everyone who came to the Hand Tool Day on Saturday, and for the kind messages afterwards; glad you all enjoyed yourselves. For those that didn’t make it we have continued the 10% discount for all of December on our new website http://www.peterseftontoolshop.com. You just need to enter the discount code “DEC10” at the checkout. The descriptions on some products are still a work in progress, and more products are being added every day.

Regards

Peter
