Evening all.

Did any off you see the tweet by Home of wood today . They have a big walnut butt for sale.. £50 it looks massive but they say its going soft.. must be some good stuff in it still... I copied their picture off twiiter for you all.. Some one may want to snap it up....

I would but I think its to big for me :lol: (hammer)

Looks about 80% waste, suspect that there is only about 100mm of outer shell that's sound.

Mind you, you wouldn't have to get many small bowl or spindle blanks out of it to make it worth £50. To far for me though.

Is walnut very expensive in the UK ?

I got two logs about 5 ft long by 14+ inches diameter for 65 euros. One slightly soft at one end.

Personally speaking I wouldn't even consider purchasing a log such as this unless it was split from end to end!

Walnut, especially gets up to nasty tricks inside if the ends are starting to go!
