Wall panelling

Hey, sound some wall panelling for a mate next week. Plan is to fix 15mm mdf sheets onto solid wall, skirting and ogee moulding above to create panek effect then trim on top to finish it off. Prob is the architrave is 18mm thick so just wondering has anyone got tips on how to finish this. New skirting is 18mm plus 15mm mdf, 33mm. Is the best thing to do is just double up on the architrave?? I've seen it done before where the skirting is mitered back into the architrave and it just doesn't look right. Any advice would be great cheers

Architrave plinth blocks is the way to go IMO.
