Regarding the voltages on your motor. You should read the voltage section of this http://www.csanyigroup.com/general-about-motors. Depending on how they are wired they can be different voltages. Your eBay link is saying that you need a delta connection. You can achieve this by moving the wires around in the terminal block. If you don't understand either phone the eBay supplier or get a local electrician to look at it.

This is only for a brush motor speed control application you dont want one of those on a graduate.!!!

Thanks for all the help guys It's much appreciated!!

I just aquired a dual voltage graduate motor for £40 so I'm now able to switch to Delta and run an inverter on 220 volts.
