Touch latches are the push retaining latches used for cupboard doors etc.

I want to make a secret drawer which is flush with the surface surround but you can just push to release like the touch latch mechanism. However all the ones I can find look like this one above - not very discreet or stylish. Does anyone know a better source or have a better idea for such a release mechanism?
Thanks alot
Mark

You can get much better ones than that. They do ones you drill into the carcase like little pistons. Google woodfit or hafele.

If you want them for drawers just use blum tip on drawers the push to open feature is built in.

Thanks chippy1970. I will investigate. This 'drawer will measure only 33 wide x 64mm high so I need something seriously small which is why I had kind of discounted the Blum stuff

Would the bits out of a retractable pen be strong enough? Possibly quite easily fixed into a hole behind the drawer.

Otherwise I think the old way was to have a springy bit of wood (or a spring) behind the drawer, pushing it forwards. It's held in place by a springy wooden catch pushing up. (A thin lath anchored on one end.) You push the drawer back a bit so you can see the catch, press the catch down, and then let the rear spring push the drawer forwards.
