One of my mates has a fabulous little lad who was diagnosed with a brain tumour just over a year ago. I cannot even begin to imagine how scary that must be for anyone, but for a kind, loving seven year old with his whole life ahead of him it is just not on.

Now that he and his family have got through the initial traumas of the operation to remove it and the chemo and radio therapy, they are picking themselves up, dusting themselves off and throwing themselves into raising some money for an amazing charity called Clic Sargent that has been with them every step of the way.

Clic Sargent provide (among many other things) free accommodation for families close to hospitals that deliver cancer treatment, specialist accommodation for families to be able to go on holidays with first rate care on hand at a moments notice, they also lobby government to get their finger out and ensure that commitments made are properly met. Many of the people involved with the charity have been in the same situation so they understand exactly what is needed - right down to someone you can ask to go and get you some shopping if necessary.

This week we are auctioning a Clifton No.3 Anniversary Smoother (No23 of 25) to help raise a bit more cash for them and the response has been nothing short of fantastic. We are up to £92 in the first two days and I have this evening been adding more listings for some other top notch kit that our suppliers have very generously, and without being asked, contacted us to donate to the same cause.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone, customers and suppliers, for being such a wonderful crowd to work for and with. It is occasions like this that bring out the very best of our human instincts and it is quite frankly bloody marvellous!

Good luck with your listings, I hope you make a lot of money for a very good cause. Can't afford the Clifton but will put in a few bids for the bit set.
