I'm researching Dutch barn style sheds for my workshop, and it struck me how few people do anything with that big empty space over the door. Then I came across this beauty...

These are common in certain parts of the U.S. that have a German heritage. They are known as barnstars, and are considered substitutes for horseshoes for good luck. I had barnstars on the barn and sheds I built when I lived in Virginia.
 
Depending on wether theres horizontals to tie that together, id be tempted to put small doors above so you can store long lengths in the roof space

Right, a barnstar is going on the parts list! I like the look of the "wagon wheel" round ones. They remind me of a compass rose.
