Having said that I have the digital version and its horses for courses. There is nothing more useful than the answer in front of you. Having to scrutinise a dial gauge. That's for people who can actually see without glasses!

Surely you couldn't slay many dragons with the four inch model though...definately go for the six or bigger.

OK, so be honest...how many of you knew about this fourth way to measure using your dial calipers? Until Andy Chidwick described it at the Woodworking Show here in Denver I never knew. The instructions that came with my calipers don't even mention it!

This is actually shown as an option in the booklet that comes with the Aldi digital.

Just been in touch with Peter Konishi from Sentora Corporation, they have a base in California, these are the people who supplied Highland Woodworking with the 4" and 6" Dial caliper, he Emailed me to tell me that the 4" is going for $25 US (just over £16), the shipping on top could be as much as half that again, wonder if any of the smaller retailers/outlets might be up for ordering a small number (say 20) if there was enough interest, this would cut down the shipping cost a bit ?, or a group buy perhaps ?

Just a 'heads up'
I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago, and for the price I wasn't expecting much, however I was pleasantly surprised, not a hint of plastic in sight, full SS construction, solid as a rock, I didn't post this up immediately as I thought I should road test it first, the 4" dial calipers seem to be like rocking horse poo-I'm glad I took a punt here,
