I came across this idea in a lot of WW forums from all over, it seems to be a yearly challenge of some kind. It does look like a good idea and will certainly get those creative juices flowing. Maybe this idea has been covered in here before but can't seem to see anything.

Does UKW do anything like this, I fancy a challenge.

So that we're not copying every other WW forum I thought Maybe we could take it up a notch and change the 2x4 for an old wooden pallet.

Here's the Challenge explained in the canadianwoodworking.com

The 2x4 Challenge
Some of the lads in the hand tool forum started this idea a while ago, and we decided to make it an offical challenge to all members. Its an idea that has been done on other forums before, but we thought we give it a whirl here and see what sort of response we get.

The basic rules are these:

Your project must be built from one (1) construction grade 8 foot long 2x4. It has to be a new project that is built during the 6 months of the contest.

Any tools may be used.

Any common fasteners may be used (screws, nails, dowels, hinges, adhesive) and you may use any finish on the piece.

You may not use any other material (glass, stone, metal, fiberglass etc)

At the end of the contest, post 4 pictures of your completed project, along with a write up of what you did, and how you did it.

Winner will be chosen by poll vote.
