Every year about this time couples start to get sorted for their weddings and the orders for these goblets start to come in. They are Celtic goblets with two captive rings signifying unity and eternity. These actually are for a 5th (wood) anniversary but the same principle. The wood is walnut and the bands are done with aluminium. They stand 9" tall and I now coat them with plasticoat on the inside. Used to use melamine lacquer but found that alcohol had a tendency to eat the lacquer away in time.

Nice.

Way beyond my ability, so no criticism intended - they seem to have almost an acorn-like 'cup' at the base of the goblet part - is that intentional - a certain style thing?

I have a gallery of about 10 different styles that a customer can choose from in either light or dark wood. This is just one of them.

Beautiful goblets, I'd be more than happy if someone gifted them to me! I really like the aluminium banding, it works a treat with the Walnut.
