Hi, this is my first post on this forum, have learnt a lot from searches; hope you can help with a problem of mine.
I'm currently building a dining room table, and am just copying a small pine table we have. My only problem is the new table will be big and heavy, and am worried the legs will not be strong enough.
I'm using 4.5cm Sycamore as the material, the legs are 9cm square, table will be 2.4 by .9 meters.
The stiles will also be 4.5cm thick, by 14cm wide.
Should I be worried?

Regards, Dylan.

Hi Dylan

Don't think you will have much to worry about with those dimensions, I have a similar sized dining table here with 35mm turned pine legs and it stands up to the punishment of family life without any problems.

Welcome to the forum, it's always nice to see new faces (and old ones ;))

Hi Dylan and welcome to the forum

I don't think your dimensions are undersized - I feel the main thing will be trying to get the proportions right.

Thanks for the welcome, and the advise. I hope the proportions are Ok, they are based on a table we like (albeit smaller).

Regards,Dylan.
